Create a Realistic Vintage Ticket Stub in Photoshop

Launch Photoshop and establish a new 500x300px canvas, mirroring the dimensions of the ticket stub to be crafted.Introduce guides (View > New Guide) around the canvas: vertically at 0 and 500px, and horizontally at 0 and 300px.Utilize Image > Canvas Size (Cmd/Ctrl + Option/Alt + C) to extend the canvas to 600x500px, providing space for background elements of the ticket stub.Choose to fill the background with color or apply a texture; I employed a texture from the Wood01 pack. This is optional, and I did so to enhance the visual appeal. The textured, weathered background aids in achieving the desired aged appearance.Adjust the Foreground color to a muted orange (#eb9b71), then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to make a selection using the guides.Create a new layer (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + N) and fill the selection with the selected Foreground color.Deselect the rectangular selection by selecting Select > Deselect (Cmd/Ctrl + D).Apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise to introduce noise to the ticket stub shape.With the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M), create a circular selection at the top left corner of the ticket stub shape, using Shift to ensure a perfect circle.Press Delete to remove the selected part of the ticket.With the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) still active, move the selection to the remaining three corners of the ticket and remove the selected areas as well.Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U), set Radius to 10px, and Color to a brown (#432421), then create a rounded rectangle within the ticket stub shape.Rasterize the rounded rectangle shape layer by right-clicking on the layer in the Layers Panel and choosing Rasterize Layer from the menu.Click on the layer’s thumbnail in the Layers Panel to load a selection around the rounded rectangle.Utilize Select > Modify > Contract Selection to reduce the selection by 3px.Press Delete to create a clean border for the ticket’s content. Change the Blend Mode for this layer to Multiply.Switch to the Horizontal Type Tool (T), set the font to Impact, and the text color to the brown (#432421) used for the border. Type the title of the ticket event.Subsequently, set the text layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply.Using the Horizontal Type Tool (T) again, but with the Georgia font, add a subtitle beneath the title. Set this text layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply as well.Proceed to add divisions to the ticket to separate content groups.Switch to the Line Tool (U), set its Weight to 2px, and draw a brown line below the subtitle, ensuring a straight line by holding Shift.Set the layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply.Duplicate the line layer (Cmd/Ctrl + J) and move the line down using the Move Tool (V) towards the bottom.Utilize the Line Tool (U) to draw a vertical line with the same Weight (2px) as the horizontal lines. Change the Blend Mode to Multiply.For the logo, we’ll employ an element from a previous Design Instruct tutorial by Jack Rugile titled Make a Stylish Futuristic Textured Wallpaper in Photoshop. You can access the PSD by clicking here.Open the PSD in Photoshop.In the Layers Panel, select the following layers: Layer 1, DESIGN INSTRUCT (text layer), and Shape 1.

Right-click in the Layers Panel and choose Duplicate Layers. Under the Destination dropdown menu, select the name of our main document and choose it to replicate the layers to our own PSD.Return to our PSD.Close the other PSD if desired.Select the new layers in the Layers Panel, then choose Layer > Merge Layers (Cmd/Ctrl + E) to combine all the layers into one.Convert the resulting layer into a smart object (Layer > Smart Objects > Convert to Smart Object). Use Free Transform (Cmd/Ctrl + T) to resize the logo appropriately. Set the layer’s Opacity to 90%.Create a new layer.With the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), draw a rectangle on the right of the ticket stub and fill it with the brown color (#432421). Set the layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply.Select the Horizontal Type Tool (T), change the font to Impact, and the text color to any bright color for visibility against the brown background.Type bold text such as “NEW ADVENTURES IN” and “GRAPHIC DESIGN” in two lines.Adjust the font size, tracking, and vertical scaling in the Character Panel (Window > Character).Click on the “NEW ADVENTURES IN” text layer thumbnail to create a selection around the text in the Layers Panel.Select the brown box layer and press Delete to remove the selected area (the shape of the text). Then, delete the “NEW ADVENTURES IN” text layer.Repeat the process with the “GRAPHIC DESIGN” text.Move the brown box down slightly using the Move Tool (V).Utilize the Horizontal Type Tool (T) to place text above the brown box using the Georgia font.Set this layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply.
